PET felt remnants for a music studio in Uganda
At children's home Noah's Arc in Uganda, a music studio has been set up using our leftover materials. Thanks to a group of dedicated students and their teacher from a Dutch secondary school, the studio received improved acoustics from leftover pieces of EASYfelt. We are proud to have contributed to this!
The importance of education in Uganda
Noah's Arc is a children's home that is largely run by locals. Children grow up in family units and receive primary education. Education is not taken for granted there and is very important; often only one child per family gets the chance to go to school. The focus is on practical vocational training, with young people being trained as carpenters, mechanics, hairdressers, or shoemakers. These professions offer the most job opportunities, allowing them to build a better future for themselves.
Music as an outlet
For many of them, music is an important outlet, especially since some are dealing with attachment issues and/or traumas. Therefore, a music corps was established, which continued to improve. This led to the desire for their own music studio. A disused shipping container provided the perfect space.
PET felt as the ideal solution
For the walls, they were looking for sound-absorbing material, and our PET felt remnants came in handy here. To get the materials to Uganda, the students cut them into smaller pieces and divided the material among their suitcases. The self-adhesive backing meant that the felt could be applied directly, making the application much easier.
Small contribution, big difference
Thanks to the improved acoustics in the music studio, the children can practice even better and express themselves creatively. A good sound environment helps them focus and experience the music even more deeply.
In addition to this acoustic improvement, the students raised no less than €31,000, which will be used to build new classrooms.
We are thrilled that our leftover pieces get a second life in this way and contribute to a beautiful future for these children!
